Blonde Ambition

IMG_9907

I have been thinking about dying my hair blonde for YEARS. But I was always too scared to go through with it. That changed last week when I finally did it. I just needed something different and I knew that the longer I waited, the less likely I would be to actually take that step.

I’m still getting used to it. But I like it most of the time. I think it’s going to have to grow on me.

Super Tuna Melt

I LOVE tuna. Tuna out of the can, tuna sandwiches, tuna helper, etc. I just love it. This recipe is a godsend because it puts together some of my favorite things to eat. Tuna, tomatoes, bread, and melted cheese! I’ve never been a huge fan of grilled cheese sandwiches because I don’t like toasted bread (I like my bread soft). But I can deal with the hard bread for this recipe. And quite honestly, I think it would be hard to eat this if you didn’t toast it because it could just fall apart. I’m telling you… you NEED this cookbook.

Cheesy Cheeseless Scrambled Eggs w/Burst Cherry Tomatoes + Garlic Roasted Bacon

Let me start by saying that I NEVER cook breakfast. My fiancé is way better at making breakfast foods than I am so I usually just let him handle that. But when I found these two recipes in Chrissy Teigen’s Cravings cookbook, I figured that I would give it a shot. Our typical breakfast meal is eggs and bacon anyway so I can’t mess it up too bad, right?

Let me just say, I would’ve never thought to add cherry tomatoes to my breakfast but they added such a burst of flavor. I love tomatoes anyway, but they are really amazing when they are warm/hot. This particular recipe uses a lot of eggs (twelve, to be exact). For my fiancé and me, it was way more than we actually needed. Now I have an extra plate of eggs in my fridge (which means I’ll probably have breakfast for dinner tonight). This cookbook is seriously amazing. I have not made one dish from this book that I didn’t absolutely love. Also, Chrissy’s commentary is hilarious and spot on.

5 Things I Want to Buy This Summer

The summer is here and I have my eye on a few things that I want to purchase (or receive as a gift). I probably won’t be able to get everything on this list because I have expensive taste and money doesn’t grow on trees. But if I could just get one or two of the things on this list… I’d be extremely happy with that. If you want more information about the products below, click on the pictures. Enjoy!

Tory Burch Miller Sandals

The main reason why I want these is because I don’t have any sandals that I can just slide my feet in. All of my sandals have straps that I need to buckle; which can be quite a pain when I’m rushing to get to work in the morning. The Miller sandals are really cute and I don’t have a “nude” sandal right now, so that’s the color that I would choose. Also, I don’t know anyone who has a pair of these. I know they are extremely popular but no one in my circle of family and friends has anything by Tory Burch. So I’m eager to get something from a designer that I have never purchased from before.

Louis Vuitton Sunglasses Case MM

I really want this sunglasses case because I have a couple of pairs of designer sunglasses already and I want another pair (see below). Continue reading

Why I Love Flexi Rods

I used to be the type of girl who wanted my hair to be bone straight. As I’ve gotten older, my idea of good looking hair has changed. I still like straight hair, but I want it to have some life to it. I’m never going to be a super curly hair girl, but I do prefer to have some type of body and bounce to give my hair some life. I’ve found that the best way for me to get that extra boost for my hair is by using flexi rods.

Less curl, more body

With curling irons and flat irons, I have to careful not to create too much curl when what I really want is body. And most of the time, I still end up with a section or two that is super curled and then I have to try to brush it out. It’s much easier for me to just put some flexi rods in my hair and let them work their magic while I tend to other things. By the time I’m done getting dressed and putting my makeup on, my hair is full of body.

No heat

If you have ever damaged your hair with heat, you tend to become extremely cautious about what kind of tools you use. I try not to rely on tools that require heat on a daily basis. Continue reading

Milestones: My Fiancé Got a New Job

My fiancé started a new job last week and I’m so happy for him. For the past year he’s been working at the airport as a ramp agent/bag runner. The pay was terrible, the hours were terrible, and the airport was an hour away from where we live. For most of the year that he was working there, he was working two eight-hour shifts for four days out of the week to make ends meet. In order to work that many hours and get a reasonable amount of sleep, he had to stay with friends who lived closer to the airport on days that he worked. So we only got to see each other for three days out of the week and those were weekdays, which meant I was at work for most of that time. After a few interviews throughout the year resulted in no job, he was offered a job earlier this month and he took it. This job couldn’t have been more perfect for him and it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time.

This job is relevant to his major in college

Most people who take the time to go to college and get their degree want to work in their field of study after they graduate. But unfortunately, that doesn’t happen for everybody. Not working in your field of study can make you feel like you wasted your time and money on getting a degree that you can’t use. So I’m very happy that my fiancé doesn’t have to deal with those thoughts anymore. Now instead of just having a “job”, he can look forward to a long career in his field.

This job is closer to where we live

Like I mentioned earlier, my fiancé was working an hour away from where we live. And he hates commuting so we had to compromise a lot of quality time for money and sanity (for him). Continue reading

2 Things I Learned from Beyoncé During the Formation World Tour

rob_raleigh_1

Two weeks ago, I had the great pleasure of being able to witness Beyoncé in concert for a second time. When Bey first announced this tour, I made sure I got my tickets this time because I missed On The Run in 2014. I made a vow to myself back then that I would never miss another Beyoncé tour for as long as I live. The Formation World Tour was not the first time I’ve seen Beyoncé live. The first Beyoncé concert I went to was the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour back in 2013. This was prior to the self-titled visual album being released and since I missed On The Run, there were quite a few songs that I hadn’t been able to see her perform live. So I would’ve been perfectly fine with Beyoncé touring without putting out a new album. But luckily Queen Bey decided to bless the BeyHive with another album in April, just days before her tour’s opening show. Every Beyoncé concert is an amazing experience but I walked out of the stadium two weeks ago feeling like I actually learned two major things from Mrs. Knowles-Carter.

Save The Date: Choosing Your Wedding Venue

I’ve finally done it! I’ve finally booked my wedding venue and we finally have a guaranteed wedding date. The wedding planning process consists of making decision after decision. Choosing your venue is one of the first big decisions that you have to make. Your choice of venue kind of dictates everything else. Your wedding date, your vendors, your honeymoon, your dress, etc. Everything begins to fall into place once you book your venue. Since I’ve finally done the deed, I feel like I should share my most helpful tips for choosing your venue.

Narrow your search down BEFORE you start visiting venues

There are a lot of ways to filter through the long list of wedding venues. You can save yourself a lot of headache and confusion by getting your list down to no more than FIVE venues before you start making tour appointments. Continue reading

Spicy Cajun Sausage, Peppers and Cabbage

The other night I tried making a recipe from Chrissy Teigen’s Cravings cookbook.

I made a few adjustments to the recipe and the directions.

The recipe calls for one red bell pepper, but I had to omit that because the red bell pepper that I had was bad and I forgot to pick up another one. The directions require a really large skillet. I don’t consider mine to be that large so I did the first half of the recipe in the biggest pan that I have and then switched everything over to a really big pot (not a stockpot though). I did that so I could fit everything into one dish without making a huge mess in my kitchen. Unfortunately, I can’t be too specific with the list of ingredients and instructions but I can tell you that even with the adjustments that I made, the food was lovely. Continue reading
