I have quite a few MAC lipsticks in my makeup collection. I would say I have at least twenty and I’m still adding to that. These are my five favorite MAC lipsticks that I’ve collected thus far. They’re not in any particular order, I change my mind too much for that. Plus, I love them all equally but for different reasons. Enjoy!
Up the Amp (Amplified)
Up The Amp is a super pigmented purple color. So it’s definitely an attention getter and it’s fun to wear but it’s not so bold that people are going to look at you like you’re crazy. Up The Amp also goes on really smooth so it’s easy to apply and re-apply. I probably wouldn’t wear this to work (I work in an office setting), but I would definitely hit the town in it.
Pillow Talk (Cremesheen)
Pillow Talk is probably my favorite nude lipstick. It has some pink undertones in it so it doesn’t look bland or boring, but it’s still super lowkey. This is one of my go-to “work lipsticks”. I used to wear Cherish by MAC a lot, but I really needed a liner with that because it can be too light. I don’t need a liner with Pillow Talk, unless I just feel like doing something extra.
Touch is an interesting color because it falls between being a dark/fall lipstick and being a nude, depending on your skintone. On me, it’s a browny-nude. It’s buildable so with one coat it’s just a nude and it gets darker and more noticeable as I add more coats.
Hug Me (Lustre)
Hug Me is more other go-to “work lipstick”. It’s lowkey and subtle but it has a little more pink pigment than Pillow Talk. It’s buildable too; so the more you apply, the more noticeably pink your lips are. I prefer to keep my lips on the subtle end at work, but on weekends or date nights, I get a little more playful.
Chili is so perfect. I really think this is the best shade of red for me. I wore this to the Beyoncé concert because I knew I would be eating and drinking with limited access to a proper place to reapply makeup. Since Chili is a matte lipstick, I don’t have to worry about a lot of transfer when I eat or drink. And unlike some other matte lipsticks, Chili does not make my lips feel dry. I know Ruby Woo is the most popular matte red lipstick from MAC. But the very first time I wore it, it was so dry that it was hard to even apply. Chili isn’t like that at all.
