Mother’s Day is right around the corner and it will be here before you know it. I’ve already managed to find two gifts for my mother but I know that there’s quite a few people who may be struggling to find the perfect gift. I’ve been in that position many times before so I thought it would be helpful for me to share some of my go-to gift ideas for my mother.
Fragrances/Perfumes
I love to give people smell goods as gifts, but I really think it’s a good gift for a mother. The trick to making this a good gift is that you have to know what fragrance your mother will actually like. Therefore, you have to pay attention and you have to put a little effort into figuring out what she likes. This will be a lot easier to do if you regularly go shopping with your mother like I do. We don’t visit beauty counters a lot when we shop but when we do, I make sure I pay attention to anything that she likes. Fragrances aren’t something that most women buy a whole lot of. We typically buy one, maybe two, a year because they tend to be rather pricey. And we usually don’t buy another one until we’ve run out of or grown tired of our favorites. But any woman would gladly welcome a new fragrance into their collection especially one that she’s been wanting for a while.
I received a sample of Walk On Air by Kate Spade and I loved it. It smells fresh, clean and whimsical, but it’s not too overpowering. Women of all ages would appreciate this scent. Click the picture to purchase.
Jewelry
Much like fragrances, jewelry is something that every woman loves. But it’s also something that we don’t buy a lot for ourselves. You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars on a piece of jewelry for Mother’s day. I know they say diamonds are a girl’s best friend but that’s not the only type of jewelry out there. You can easily find some nice gold hoops, or a nice sterling silver ring for less than $200. If your mother has a Pandora bracelet, a charm or two would suffice. Take a peek into your mom’s jewelry box and see if there’s something that she doesn’t already have or something that could complement the existing pieces in her collection.
Pandora bracelets are awesome because it allows the “gifter” to be creative and purchase something with some meaning. And the bracelets are pretty; that’s always a plus. The cool thing about the bracelet pictured below is that it’s a bangle AND it has some engraving on it already. So it’s already special even without many charms on it. Click the picture to purchase.
An Experience
Moms love gifts but they also love making memories with their children. Instead of going the traditional gift route, take your mother to a concert, a museum exhibit, or a spa. Whatever you think she will enjoy, but you have to go with her. I don’t think it’s enough to just say “here’s to tickets to ______, have fun.” Part of the gift is spending the time with her. I have two tickets to Beyoncé’s Formation World Tour and if I didn’t already have two gifts for my mom then I would definitely be taking her to the concert with me.
Now I’m not sure if a Beyoncé concert is your mom’s “thing”, but I took my mother to one of her concerts back in 2013 and she LOVED IT. Obviously, I’m the one who’s a major fan but I think my mom really enjoyed the process of getting dressed for the show with me and experiencing what was my first Beyoncé show WITH ME. So even if you don’t think a particular concert or museum exhibit is your mom’s scene, you may be surprised to find out that your mom may really enjoy doing something that you enjoy with you. These are just a few ideas to get you brainstorming on the perfect gift. I’m sure that whatever you decide to choose as your Mother’s Day gift will no doubt be appreciated by your mother. Share this with a friend or loved one who’s having trouble finding that special gift for their mother.
